Namun, karena kedua pihak, Gading dan Gisel berhalangan hadir, maka sidang ditunda. Sidang beragendakan mediasi itu akan kembali digelar pada 12 Desember mendatang. Sementara itu, proses perceraian keduanya juga telah diwakilkan oleh pengacaranya, Andreas Sapta dan paman dari Gading, Chris Salam.
Sejak awal, baik Gading dan Gisel, memang telah sepakat untuk menunjuk Chris Salam sebagai kuasa hukum mereka. Gisel memilih Chris yang merupakan adik dari Roy Marten ini juga lantaran mereka semua masih memiliki hubungan keluarga.
Apalagi, saat mengetahui keinginan Gisel untuk bercerai, keluarga sudah sepenuhnya menyerahkan keputusan tersebut ke Gading dan Gisel.
"Kalian harus tahu background keluarga kita. Keluarga kita dibesarkan untuk, kalian boleh apa aja asal tanggung jawab. Itu, kita dibesarkan dengan itu. Makanya ketika mas Roy mengambil sikap dengan dia tidak mau hands on, bukan karena masalahnya berat, tapi karena ketika Gading sama Gisel sepakat untuk kawin, itu kesepakatan bersama, ketika mereka mau cerai, itu juga kesepakatan bersama," ungkap Chris Salam saat ditemui di Pengadilan Negeri Jakarta Selatan.
Chris kemudian menambahkan, meski akhirnya kedua orang tua Gempita Nora Marten itu sepakat berpisah, namun mereka tetap menjaga hubungan baik. Bahkan, sampai ke keluarga besar.
"Contohnya aja gini, Saya om-nya Gading dan kenapa jadi pengacaranya Gisel? Kan itu lucu kan? Tapi itu yang mau kita sampaikan ke masyarakat, bahwa ini baik-baik kok," tambahnya sambil tersenyum.
Dalam kesempatan yang sama, Chris juga sempat meluruskan pemberitaan yang menyebutkan bahwa Gading terlihat lebih sendu dengan kasus perceraian yang menimpa rumah tangganya.
Banyak yang menduga hal ini terjadi lantaran Gading melakukan sebuah kesalahan, mengingat Gisel jauh lebih santai saat menghadapi masalah ini.
"Haha ini karena gestur ya (saat jumpa pers Gading dan Gisel). Persoalannya gini, Gading kemarin tuh jetlag, dia baru pulang dari Eropa. Jadi gestur tubuh, bisa benar bisa tidak, Ada behind the scene-nya, gini, sebelumnya Gading ketemu aku, ngobrol. Dia ketawa-ketawa ngakak. Which is normal gitu ya, aku enggak tahu. Gading-Gisel ini artis 'kan, semoga apa yang mereka tampilkan di kamera itu kondisi yang benar. Karena kalau enggak, mereka kan bisa (akting), artis you can do anything," tandasnya.
